Kettlebells

Kettlebells are strength training devices that some trace back to Russia. Kettlebells are simply weighted balls with handles on the tops. They are usually made of cast iron and come in various weights. Individuals have been using them for decades to promote strength and body toning, but what some people might not know is that one of the most common workouts that can be done with Kettlebells, the Kettlebell swing, is able to strengthen the arms and is also able to help people tone and flatten belly muscles.

The Kettlebell swing simply involves standing with legs spread apart and the Kettlebell in both hands, hanging in front of the body between the legs. The individual then squats down by bending the knees. Then, as the legs are straightened once again in the second half of the squat motion, the individual swings the Kettlebell upward. We should mention that there is a debate about whether to swing Kettlebell up high above the head or only until it is level with the head. Either way, the Kettlebell swing is an exercise that should implicate not only the arms and legs but also the abdominal muscles, helping participants to flatten belly regions in the process.
